Mortgage Marketing with Postcards – Tips for Success

Even in the age of social media, there
are at least three reasons standard size postcards still work for
marketing your mortgage business.

Your
marketing message is delivered – immediately
.
Your recipient does not need to open an envelope to get your message.

You
get the high impact of color at an affordable price
.
Studies show that color is 50% more effective than black and white.

You
spend less for postage
. Not only
is your message immediately delivered, a standard size postcard costs
less to mail than a regular envelope.

Before
creating a postcard, ask yourself the following questions:

Who is in my audience?

How will I get their attention?

What will spark their interest?

What action do I want them to take?

Please be brief.
A standard postcard doesn’t have a lot of space. Stick to one audience,
and one message. Postcards are the most effective with one call to
action.

How mortgage professionals use
postcards in their marketing efforts.
Here
are just a couple of ways my clients use postcards.

To
follow-up with networking contacts.

Several years ago, I created a “nice to meet you” postcard with my
client’s picture on one side and a section with lines for her to write
a brief note. She didn’t have a large marketing budget and wasn’t sure
if they would work, so she went with a black and white print on colored
stock instead of a full-color version. Everyone she met received the
card with a brief note. This helped to set her apart, and led to follow
up calls and business. I’ve had mortgage brokers order the
same postcard design, personalized for each loan officer.

As
an alternative to a newsletter.

Instead of  a print newsletter, one client sends a large,
colorful postcard with a tip each month. The cards use the same color
scheme and basic design, and the message changes each month.

Remember, postcards aren’t just for mailing.

You can distribute them as you would business cards, as a handout
during your homebuyer presentations, or as an alternative to a
flyer.

So, when you are looking for a way to set your mortgage business apart,
consider marketing with postcards
.
